Nearly time...

Salaam!

It's getting close to the time of departure! I cannot believe it is less than two weeks until I leave for Morocco! It seems like the months have flown by until this point, I only hope the time that I am there does not also go as fast.
With this short time left for preparations, I have a lot to do yet. I still have to make sure I get all of my supplies; some medicine, shampoo, sun screen, mosquito repellent, sneakers...
The only trouble I can foresee encountering is over packing. I over pack to go to a friend's for the weekend, how do you possibly condense a months worth's of needs into a little suitcase? I have to buy a 220 volt adapter so that I will be able to update this blog while I am over there.
The organization has been sending me some links and last minute tips, so I have been seeing some pictures of the house and the surrounding area. It only makes me more excited! The house looks really nice, and pretty big. It has an all white exterior with verandas on the second floor. The bedrooms are dorm-style in that they have bunk beds, but everyone gets their own closet. There are a few relaxing rooms with massive couches that line the walls under windows that peer into the garden they have in the backyard. Its pretty surprising to see that the neighboring area is more suburban than one would think. I pictured dirt roads and such, but in reality it looks more like Florida with palm trees! Which, hey, is fine by me!
I have been assigned to the Lala Maryem Orphanage. Residing there are babies and toddlers as well as physcially challened toddlers. We work there in the mornings for about five hours, possibly more, and help the nurses with their daily tasks. We could play with the kids, take care of the babies, teach them english, but basically just give them our undivided attention and show love. These abandoned children really only need that i suppose.
After those hours we return to the house and we can spend the rest of the day as we wish, looking around the town, relaxing, or planning our weekends.
So that's my update for now! I probably won't write again until I am in Morocco and jet lagged.
So until then, i hope you are enjoying the warm weather!
